Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28th in 1967. Roberts is the fourth Roberts generation to reside in Atlanta starting with her grandfather who was a farmer, John Pendleton Roberts. Her father was interested in theatre since a young time. When he was a student at Emory University he appeared in diverse productions, both at and off campus. He joined the air force in 1953 and, while stationed in Biloxi Mississippi was cast in a military production that included Betty Lou Bredemus who was part of the air force. The two married in 1955, and their first son Eric Anthony was born in 1956. Walter was studying at Tulane University, New Orleans Louisiana. In the year 1957, they were discharged from the air force and Walter started his education at Tulane. Walter was hired as a technician by Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio to work on the set of Bum Bum and His Buddies in Decatur Georgia. Walter and Betty Lou began producing a television show for children in Georgia, Decatur called Bum Bum and His Buddies. The production was funded by the couple by themselves. The Actors and Writers Workshop was established in 1964 and lasted for 6 years. The couple also had two children. Lelisa Billingsley (1965) (also called Lisa) as well as Julia Billingsley (1967) (also know as Julie).
